Me: Carrillo on the move.

Updated: Sep 3, 2019

Hi, I'm Jazmin. I am 31! I teach and I travel. People say I am always on the move, join me!

me in a nutshell

My life:

I am somewhat of a tree-hugging, free-spirited, fun-loving, beer-drinking kind of lady. I believe in growth, learning, caring for our environment, and doing what makes me happy. I have learned that being happy might be the most important thing in life. I was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, which I love. I love the desert, the colors, the heat, the lights, the mountains, the activities, my life, everything about Las Vegas.

Teaching:

I have been teaching for 8 years in a school with absolutely wonderful students. Our students are predominately Latino, English-Language learners. They remind me of me when I was a little kid on the East-Side of Las Vegas. That's another reason I stay. I think students need to see a version of themselves within their teachers, at some point or another. I wouldn't change it for anything. It can be challenging, more often than not, but it is so rewarding. I love our students at my school.

Traveling:

I travel EVERY.. CHANCE.. I.. GET! I haven't traveled as much as I would like but I have been some places and I still collecting stamps on my passport with no sights of stopping. I usually travel alone, but I have started convincing people to go with me. I just love seeing new people and places. My favorite feeling is landing in a new place and not knowing anyone or anything.

What's the point?

So, I have debating at starting a blog for a long time. I think that there are more people out there like me. (Also, I hate writing things down.. psshhh.. so old-fashioned, I rather type it) I hope that I can inspire someone, provide some tips, or just brighten someone's day. I also want to answer some questions that I get asked ALL the time. The following are some examples.

Where are you going next?

Aren't you scared traveling alone?

Don't your parents worry?

Why do you travel alone?

How do you travel so much on a teacher's salary?

Why haven't I settled down yet?

and oh so many more!

Most importantly, The internet keeps EVERYTHING, and most likely FOREVER! So, my thinking is that I can keep this as a reminder of who I was, what my thoughts were and what I was doing in a specific time and place. I want to look back at this like a scrapbook for me, my family, friends, and who ever else wants to join in on my life.

Well, If you are reading this, I hope you enjoy!
